Spotlight On: Sophie from Bod & Ted
Nestled in the heart of the old high street lies the clothing boutique Bod & Ted. We caught up with Sophie to find out how long it’s been a thriving part of our high street and what’s on the cards next.
When did Bod & Ted open and where did the name come from? We opened in Tunbridge Wells in 2010 and the store is named after my sisters - it is my nicknames for them.
With lots of businesses closing in Tunbridge Wells do you think the bottom of town is the new place to be? I definitely think the High Street is the place to be. It is sad to see the closure of so many business at the top end of town, but I think the High Street has always been the place to find more unusual independent shops and cafes and it's part of what I love about living in Tunbridge Wells. I always bring visiting friends down to the High Street and the Pantiles.
What makes you guys different? Can you tell us a bit more about the items you stock and who your customer are? My mum and I do all of the buying together which I feel puts us in a unique position as we really do cater for all ages. We love print and colour and sourcing exclusive brands that you won't find elsewhere. We stock pieces from casual brands such as Paige, Veja and American Vintage, to silk pieces from Hayley Menzies and beautiful designs from Stine Goya.
Whats in store for the future? We will be introducing lots of exciting new brands for AW19 and even more for SS20. We have also recently re-designed and expanded our website which is very exciting. Next up will be our summer launch party!
