We spoke with Mollie Manning, Tunbridge Wells most in demand photographer about her style and how she started out.
Tell us about yourself, what made you choose a life as a photographer?
I've always been creative and imaginative, I've had a love of art since I can remember! It wasn't until I was studying Art at GCSE that I was introduced to Photography as an alternative medium and it kind of began there. I used my dad's canon camera and just took tons of pictures! I never really put it down. I then studied Photography at A-Level and then went on to doing my degree in Digital Photography. It's just something I've always enjoyed and later learnt something I was good at now it's my job!
Who are some of the people/ businesses you’ve worked with?
I've been so lucky! I've worked with some really amazing and inspiring people/businesses not only in Tunbridge Wells but in Kent and London. I've worked with Mum's The Word, Barker Design, Kerrie Kent, Hannah Rainey (littlethoughtsblog.com), The Pork House Pit and Pipehouse Gin - that's just from the top of my head!
How would you describe your photography style?
I'd say it's modern but simple and natural. I don't like anything too forced or overly put together. I love using natural light and not doing too much in post (if I can help it!).
Whats your favourite thing to photograph?
My favourite thing would have to be shooting Business Portraits which actually is what I'm hired most for! I love meeting the people behind these amazing independent businesses that you see on Instagram and at Support Local Pop Up events. I like the fact my Business Portraits are different, they're not stuffy or coporate, they reflect the personality of the business and most importantly their story. It's so important to put a face to your business so your customers/client have someone to connect with and that's where I come in!
